Summary

 Use this article to learn how to add links to Course Navigation in Canvas. These instructions may be particularly useful to SOM FSS and other end users.

Step-by-step guide

In the course you would like to add the link(s) to:

  1. In Course Navigation (left navigation bar), click Settings,
  2. Select Apps from the list of tabs at the top of the screen. 
  3. Search for the Redirect Tool, once found, click it. 
  4. Select Add App, a pop-up box will appear. 
  5. In the Name field, type the title of the link you would like students to see in Course Navigation.
  6. Copy the URL of the link you would like students to have access to, and paste it into the URL Redirect field.  
  7. Uncheck Force open in new tab.
  8. Check Show in Course Navigation.
  9. Click Add App.
  10. Refresh the page to ensure the app has been added to Course Navigation.
